When looking for a tutor on our tutor marketplace, you might see a pop-up that says your tutor might request a small additional fee for in-person lessons (circled in black in image below):
This fee is for tutors who travel large distances to get to and from your lessons, and it's up to the tutor's discretion whether or not they want to charge a fee. Not all in-person lessons will have a travel fee as most tutors will be within a few kilometers of the postcode you enter in our tutor marketplace filter.
How much will I have to pay?
The maximum rate our tutors are allowed to add is $1 per kilometer they need to travel. So the amount will vary according to how far away your tutor is from you.
How will I know if my tutor will add a travel fee?
The tutor will mention this before your first lesson. This fee is only added after they've gotten your approval, so if you do not want to pay the travel fee, please discuss it with your tutor directly first.
